U-16's Split the Opening Weekend of their AYHL Schedule
2009-09-15
Saturday night brought their first AYHL game of the season as the U-16's hosted the NY Saints at Champions Skating Center.
It was an up and down game with plenty of offense. Unfortunately, the home team had trouble finishing their many scoring changes as they out shot the Saints but were on the loosing end of an 8 - 5 score, one of those goals was an empty net goal as the Jr. Pack pulled their goalie with under a minute to play for the extra attacker.
On Sunday, the team traveled to Somerset New Jersey to meet the NJ Rockets. The boys had their legs from the beginning and played a high energy physical game. Once again the Jr. Wolf Pack out shot their opponent, never trailing on their way to a 4 - 2 victory.
Coach Corriveau was happy with the energy and effort put forth by the players who worked hard, "we are not where I would like us to be, we can't seem to get everyone going on the same page. We were young and it will take some time, things are going in the right direction that is all a coach can ask for. It was a good opening weekend for us."
Next weekend the Jr. Wolf Pack U-16's host the NJ Rockets in Cromwell on Saturday afternoon @ 5:50pm. On Sunday they travel to Brewster NY for a non-league tilt against the Westchester Express.
