U-16's go Undefeated through Two Critical AYHL Weekends!

It is getting crowded atop the league standings between the Pack (known in the AYHL as the CT Clippers), Hershey, NY Saints, NJ Avalanche and the Little Flyers. The Jr. Wolf Pack U-16's went into the weekend of 1/9 & 1/10 needing to do well against the AYHL elite, traveling to Hershey for a weekend series against the Jr. Bears.

The Jr. Wolf Pack defeated the Bears in a dramatic come from behind victory at the Thanksgiving Showcase in Simsbury. The Bears were looking for revenge in their barn. But, the Pack would have none of that as they road solid goaltending and a relentless attack to come home with a pair of one goal victories 3 - 2 and 4 - 3.

Only one game was on the schedule this weekend with the Pack traveling to meet the North Jersey Avalanche on Saturday. The Av's beat the Jr. Wolf Pack earlier in the year at Champions and were hoping for more of the same when they jumped out to an early 3 - 0 first period lead on the strength of 4 Pack penalties including one 5 on 3 situation. The Pack scored late in the first to end the period at 3 -1. Then they came out flying in the 2nd period out scoring the Bears 3 -1 to force a 4 -4 tie heading into the final stanza. The two teams fought hard with no scoring until the Bears took advantage of a Wolf Pack turnover to take the lead with six minutes left. The Pack answered back quickly and sent the game into overtime where their hard work paid off scoring the game winner with 1.2 seconds left in OT.

The Pack, (Clippers) now sit in 2nd place in the AYHL standings, 3 points behind the NY Saints with 4 games in hand to make up the difference.

The U-16's host the Mercer Chiefs in a weekend series at Champions next Saturday and Sunday.
