Jr. A Team Excels In EJHL Winter Showcase
2010-01-10
Things have not been going the Jr. Wolf Pack way so far this season but after a few changes to the player personnel things have seemed to have worked themselves out. This weekend the Jr. Pack traveled North to face the rival EJHL teams the Valley Jr. Warriors, Boston Jr Bruins and the Bridgewater Bandits. The team went 1-1-1 on the weekend beating Valley 3-2, losing to the Jr. Bruins 4-2 and tying Bridgewater 2-2, the team competed and had a very solid showing.
"We made some moves to help us at the back end and up front. It seemed to not only help us on the ice but it made us a more confident team and a more dedicated team and it showed. The games we lost and tied this weekend we had every chance to win in those games but couldn't hold the lead. I am very proud of our group as we showed that there is not much difference between the two leagues and I think it is going to open some eyes up. Our organization has showed we are one of the best Junior teams on the east coast. We have improved and the other teams in our division are going to have to be on their heels as I for see a solid second half from us" said Chris Cerrella.
New comers goalie Bryan Haude and forwards Elijiah Cohen, Petr Soustal and Mike Connolly made an immediate impact for the Jr. Wolf Pack scoring some big goals on the weekend. Along with the new comers the veteran play of players Mike Novella, Derek Giansanti, Taylor Luneau, Cameron Chinnery, Billy Strakosch, Andrew Moscardelli, Daltrey Meitz and John Corrigan really stepped up their game and proved worthy of some college hockey scouts attention.
The Harford Jr. Wolf Pack program has been responsible for sending more than 50 players to the collegiate level and has had players from the organization drafted in the NHL, OHL and QMJHL. Be sure to check out some Jr. Wolf Pack action in the second half of the 2009-10 AJHL season.
