Player Receives Help From Jr. Wolf Pack Staff

Defenseman Jake Lewis had a dream to play college hockey somewhere for someone.

The gritty 5'10 defenseman played his final season of juniors in the EJHL for the Boston Shamrocks. Lewis played in the EJHL all-star game and ended his season with the thoughts and hopes to walk on at Division 1 Quinnipiac University.

Jake contacted the Jr. Wolf Pack with the need to stay on the ice, Coach Cerrella was up for the task. For just about two months Jake trained with Coach Cerrella and skated in practice with the Jr. A Wolf Pack which gave him the ability to stay on the ice and stay in shape as try outs approached.

Unfortunately Jake fell short at try outs and now his college hockey future was in limbo.

Lewis continued to skate with the team and stayed in shape and asked Coach Cerrella for help to fulfill his dream of playing college hockey and that is when the Jr. Wolf Pack staff went to work. Making calls to some very good Div 3 schools Cerrella was able to find some interest for Lewis from several different places and before long Lewis was committed to Skidmore in the rough ECAC East.

He will be joining the Thoroughbreds for second semester of the 2009-10 season looking to help Skidmore remain a top team in their division.

"Jake came to us with a goal and that was to play college hockey. It was a tough challenge to try and walk on at Quinnipiac and he knew it, when that did not happen he had to continue to play he was not ready to just give up. We needed to find the right fit for him and we did, he is going to do a good job at Skidmore and we are very happy for Jake and we wish him the best," said Chris Cerrella.

Jake will be skating with the team for another few days before leaving for Skidmore and more than likely will be in there line up for their game on January 1st against Trinity College.
