Jr. A Pack Making Strides but Time is Ticking

The Jr. Wolf Pack have still not found the consistent groove that the coaching staff had hoped for as they sit in 4th place 17 games into the season.

The rookie-minded team still struggles to figure out how to play in this league and tough division on a daily basis. The team still struggles to score goals!

"Last season we had 13 veteran guys and this season we have a lot less. We brought some guys in from other Jr. A leagues hoping they would be impact players and so far they have not. Now this does not mean that they will not be but if they are going to be it has to happen sooner than later. We knew we were going to have a young team and it would be a slow start but we expected the good players from the lower levels that were great at the lower levels to make the consistent adjustments by now. It is a different year and a different team and it has been frustrating for everyone. However as a staff we will make it work one way or another," Said Chris Cerrella.

Before this past weekend, the Pack were 4-1 in their last five and had looked like they had found a niche.

As they traveled North for two games against the Walpole Express they dropped two straight games because of lack of scoring and timely penalties that lead to PP goals.

"We are not a team that can score goals. We do not have a nose for the net at all. We also have NO team toughness which wasn't an issue last season . So in saying that we can not afford to take dumb penalties and we did just that on Sunday, it cost us big time. The Express scored 4 PP goals in the 3rd period as we got bombarded with penalty after penalty some of them very questionable calls but some of them worth it. This team needs to do some soul searching and some maturing if we want to make a run at this," said Owner Dan McCarthy.

The Jr. A Wolf Pack will head up to Portland Maine for a weekend of games and they look to get back on a winning track.
