Jr. A Wolf Pack Find Their Way
2009-09-27
The Jr. Wolfpack were not sure how things were going to fall into place this weekend at the leagues first college showcase of the season. Going into Saturdays game the Pack were a surprising 0-3 and had given up 16 goals in those 3 games. Like the switch of a light the Jr. Wolfpack staff and players realized their accomplishments last season was did not mean teams were going to lay down and die for them. The team seemed to find their way and the Pack seemed to all hunt together this weekend as the team swept the weekend with two impressive wins over the Philadelphia Little Flyers and the Washington Jr. Nationals. New goaltender Brandon Decker lead the way winning his first two games playing for the white and blue, only allowing 5 goals in the two games over the weekend. Rookie defenseman Matt Bean had a strong weekend with a goal and assist and veteran defenseman Daltrey Meitz seemed to turn the corner as he made adjustments from his first two weekends and seemed to come into his own. Forwards Patrick Avery, John Corrigan and Dan Kane seemed to really gel as a line out working their opponents almost every shift. Veteran forward Cameron Chinnery showed a lot of signs to remind teams that he was an all-star in the league last season and this season he is out for a national bid. "It was incredible, we were a completely different team. We had a great week of practice, I gave the guys some tough love and they responded. We do not mind losing games if we are working hard. We were handing teams games on a silver platter and that is not how we play. I am very proud as we responded to some adversity early that shows a lot about the character of this team," said Chris Cerrella. The Jr. Wolfpack are getting ready for a 3 game home stand this Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday against Northern division rivals the Boston Jr. Bulldogs and the Walpole Express.
