Jr. Pack Lose Close One In Shoot-out
2009-10-01
The Jr. Wolf Pack have turned the corner, after an 0-3 start the team has battled back and have gone 2-0-0-1 after they suffered a shoot-out loss to the Walpole Express Wednesday night at Champions Skating Center.
The game went back and fourth and was a goaltenders duel as both teams had tons of scoring opportunities and PP opportunities. Walpole took the lead early in the third period as the Pack battled back and scored a goal with just 8.6 seconds left in regulation.
Jr. Wolf Pack returner Cameron Chinnery scored a huge goal to keep his team alive. Both teams exchanged opportunities in over time but as time expired in Over Time the game was to be remained tied and would go into a sudden death shootout. Walpole was able to come on top beating goaltender Andrew Begg to hand Hartford an Over time loss but the team still skated away with 1 point in the standings. Veteran goalie Andrew Begg stole the show for the Jr. Pack making Walpole work to score their lone goal in regulation.
"I am not a huge fan of shoot-outs to be honest with you. The NHL does them for the fans, we are a college hockey development league we should not have shoot outs but that is the way it is. I just do not believe a shoot out determines who the best team is on any given night. We did not play well enough to win but we did not play bad enough to lose. We are going to gear up for this weekend at home, it is a big weekend for us," said Chris Cerrella.
Come down to check out the action as the Jr. Wolf Pack will take on a weekend of games at Champions Skating Center against the Boston Bulldogs. The 2009-10 schedule is available here.
