Junior A Sweep Weekend
2009-10-19
It was just what the doctor ordered for the Junior A Wolfpack this weekend. Two home games and two victories against a northern division rival the Portland Jr. Pirates. Saturday night the Jr.Pack put together a solid game winning 3-2. Things seemed to finally go their way as veteran forward Billy Strakosch was able to light the lamp twice giving him 4 goals in his last 2 games and rookie goaltender Brendan Decker turned aside 24 shots to help the Jr. Pack find some instinct. During Sunday afternoons game it seemed that they did finally find that instinct, the instinct that the coaching staff have been waiting for....... SCORING GOALS.
The Jr. Pack beat the Jr. Pirates 8-1 on Sunday afternoon and it comes in perfect timing as they look to climb back to the top of the tough and rugged north division.
"It was a big weekend for us as a team. We have lost 4 one goal games and we just couldn't score, our whole team seemed to be snake bit at the same time. We needed this, it has been a tough start for us but we seem to be turning the corner, now the key is CONSISTENCY," said Chris Cerrella.
New comer Dan Kane had a great weekend with 2 goals and 2 assists and rookie Eric Bajc found the back of the net with two goals and an assist on the weekend as well. The high scoring weekend was just a tip of the ice berg, the Pack received great goaltending from both goalies this weekend and only gave up 3 goals in 2 games.
The home stand will continue as the Jr. Pack will take on the Northern Cyclones Wednesday night and they will also take on the Laconia Leafs this Saturday and Sunday all games being played at Champions Arena. For game times please check out the schedule link of the Jr. A website.
